We are working with Family Aid in Boston, MA to help transform their program to increase their level of trauma informed and 2 -generational services for homeless families. We first engaged with Family Aid in 2020 to provide 2 years of training to build knowledge and skills across the workforce. We completed a baseline program evaluation using the T.I.E.R.™ signature model and completed a follow-up evaluation to assess progress and identify needs. We then embarked on an advanced 2-year process, set to wrap up in 2025, focused on implementing system wide changes and deepening knowledge and skills to enhance the level of trauma informed care. Through challenging times Family Aid has persisted in working to enhance its model and services to support all children and families. We are honored to help them through this system change process.
The answer to solving homelessness is not just housing alone.
Recent studies have revealed that when a child experiences homelessness it negatively impacts their development, health and education for years to come.
The earlier and longer that a child experiences homelessness, the greater the impact. FamilyAid, takes a whole-family, 2Generation approach to helping both children and parents thrive.

We recently launched a new project with York St. Project in Jersey City, N.J. In May 2024, we kicked off a 2-year, Trauma Informed Care, systems change training and evaluation initiative, working with both the housing and services team and the early childhood education team to advance the agency’s mission to service families in need. We have completed a baseline evaluation and will train the agency using our proprietary 10 course curriculum to build foundational knowledge and skills. Following this process, we will conduct a follow-up evaluation to assess progress and look towards launching part two of these systems change initiative using our new advanced Trauma informed care curriculum with York St. Project.

In December 2017, Artemis Associates provided a 2-day training focused on using emotionally intelligent leadership, nonverbal messages and developing effective leadership communication and addressing difficult topics or, “elephants in the room.”
In May 2018, we continued the journey with a day-long session on adaptive, reflective, and trauma-informed leadership. These discussions lead to a concrete list of items for implementation.
The YWCA continues to partner with Artemis Associates for ongoing consultation on implementation and annual re-evaluation of progress.
